YWAM Value #17 is: Practice Hospitality.

YWAM affirms the ministry of hospitality as an expression of God’s character and the value of people. We believe it is important to open our hearts, homes, YWAM locations and campuses to serve and honor one another, our guests and the poor and needy, not as acts of social protocol, but as expressions of generosity.

I love that hospitality is a practical expression of love; a tangible way to live out the deep love that God has provided to us for the benefit of others. To be hospitable is a way to show genuine love that comes from the heart without complaint.

Increasingly, Liz and I have grown in understanding the call of hospitality on our lives. We’ve postured our hearts and minds to see from God’s perspective. No longer is hosting as burdensome as it used to feel.

It has become a joy and delight to intentionally serve people through hospitality at our home, within the School of Worship, or even in worship times.

We’d love to hear ways that God has gifted you in hospitality! We are hungry to learn and grow in this YWAM Value.

I have the privilege to speak in the School of Worship at the YWAM Base in Perth, Australia from Sept 1-5. After a full week of teaching, I”ll head south to Busselton to teach in a worship seminar for local churches in that region.

I’ll also lead worship for the Sunday Service at Cornerstone Church. Please be praying for attentiveness to the Holy Spirit and all that He would have me teach in the school and at the seminar.

I have a topic with lots of content, but I want to deliver what they need and not simply what I think should be done. I’m also excited to have Malakai and Laila with me on this missionary journey.

Pray we each have eyes to see every opportunity that God would present for us to preach the Gospel or minister to someone. Not just when we arrive in Australia but as we travel through the Philippines as well.

It’s a dream coming true to minister alongside my children.

In October I will be headed to Pokhara, Nepal near the Himalayan mountain range to help equip translators in songwriting foundations for writing scripture songs in the languages that they are currently translating. I have team from our School of Worship staff that will be running trainings the week before I arrive.

When I arrive, I will be helping to go deeper into the songwriting training and facilitating a songwriting retreat. We plan to record the songs by the end of the week and get them onto SD cards as quickly as possible so teams can begin to distribute the word of God through song among villages in the Himalayas.

In many cases, this will be the first time someone will not only hear the word of God in their language, but also be able to sing it.

When we arrive back to Kona, from Australia, our family will be moving out of the rental home we’ve been in for the past 4 years and back onto campus. We have such an expectancy on our hearts that God is going to provide a miracle, long-term, housing gift to us.

We have been believing for a roots down deep home in Kona for five years now. We are so grateful for the ways that God has shaped and molded us through these years.

Pray that packing and moving onto campus will go smoothly and without any complications. Also, pray that we get a decent sized campus room that will work for our family of 7.

Lastly, we haven’t gotten a room assignment yet, so pray that we get that soon! 🙌🏼
