Practice Worship and Intercessory Prayer

YWAM Value #4 is: Practice Worship and Intercessory Prayer

YWAM is dedicated to worship God and engage in intercessory prayer as integral aspects of daily life. We also recognize the intent of Satan to destroy the work of God and we rely upon God’s empowering presence, the Holy Spirit, to overcome Satan’s strategies in the lives of individuals and in the affairs of nations.

One of the greatest gifts we have in YWAM is the diversity of cultural worship expressions.”

Darlene Cunningham - Co Founder of Youth With A Mission

Worship is a huge part of our development as a mission. Loren and Darlene have said, many times, it is not a “tacked-on” activity. It is an action motivated by the attitude of love. As we’ve made time for extended worship of God, we’ve found our thoughts being aligned with His thoughts. He alone is worthy of all the praise, glory, honor; and all of our worship.

Maybe, even now, take a moment to pause and bow before your maker to give Him what He deserves. I know He will meet you right where you are at. Start by thanking Him for whatever comes to mind in gratitude. Then praise Him; tell Him who He is. Then worship Him.

Pokhara

A few weeks ago I was in Pokhara, Nepal working with Nepali Bible Translators. Thank you so much for your prayers! I am completely blown away by all that God did and accomplished through our willing obedience to His call.

Our team from School of Worship Kona (staff) held a ‘Mother Tongue Song Workshop’. One week was training and the next week was practical application; songwriting.

During our application week, we saw 23 new songs created in 7 different languages - Doteli, Tamang, Santhali, Bajureli, Chauderi, Kham, and Nepali. It was deeply moving to see everyone smiling with joy as they composed and sang in their own heart languages.

The majority of us have never known a day in our lives where worship to God, in our heart language and style, didn’t exist. We have been given a great gift by many who have gone before us; particularly from John Wycliffe and William Tyndale in the 14th and 15th centuries respectively.

Thanks to them, and many others, we have the Bible in our mother tongue; english. For the first time, in the history of the world, 6 of those 7 languages have scripture worship songs.

It has been an amazing privilege of mine to come alongside these ‘people groups’ and help them to begin writing their song books to Jesus; in their heart language, with their instruments, and their cultural sound.

Together we have seen this historical moment come together and it is only the beginning. Praise be to God. 🙌🏼

Mexico and India

This Saturday, I leave for my last two missionary journey’s of 2025. Next week I’ll be teaching at the School of Worship in Mazatlan. I have had the opportunity to pour into this school and YWAM campus since the SOW was first pioneered there.

After my last day of teaching in Mexico, I begin my journey to India to teach at the YWAM School of Worship in Lonavala. It will be a long journey spanning Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, and finally Mumbai!

I’ve found that our simple obedience to the call of God on our lives has always made every journey ‘worth it’. God is always so present to our family each and every time.

Pray that I would be completely sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in teaching what these students actually need over what I think I should teach. And pray for my attentiveness to preaching the good news of Jesus Christ to whoever God would lead to me as I journey from one place to another.

Thank You 🙌🏼

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for faithfully standing with us! We recognize and understand that it’s not simply our family doing this thing called “missions” but all of us, together on one team united, to see the Kingdom of God advance across the earth.

What an amazing privilege to partner with Jesus, as His body, to see his plans and purposes come to pass. It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of 2025.

“The promises of God are of no value to us until by obedience we understand the nature of God.”

Oswald Chambers

With that, I simply ask would you pray about your year end giving and if some of it should go towards this important work. We are truly grateful for each and everyone of you.

Prayer Request

We have settled into campus living for the time being. It’s been quite a faith step as we believe for long-term housing that would fit, not only the needs of our family, but also accommodate for the promises that God has spoken over us.

If, as you pray, God gives you a piece of the puzzle we would love to hear from you. We don’t want to force anything and we also want to walk in simple faith with the Lord in all of it.  🙏

Final Remarks

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and may the Lord give you peace. Amen.

Grace and Peace be with you in Abundance,

-Chris, Lizzi, Kai, Laila, Rhema, Moses, and Zion ♥️-
